Sales & Marketing Director/Manager
■ Qualifications
• 3-5 years marketing experience, preferably in book publishing or related business
• Strong interest in manga and comics, as well as in contemporary anime, Japanese prose, and Japanese popular culture
• Able to read Japanese; speaking and writing a plus
• Able to commute to Manhattan
• Ability to travel for trade events and sales meetings a few times a year
■ Responsibilities
• Develop and execute marketing plans
• Manage annual sales and marketing budgets
• Serve as main point person for national distributor
• Oversee co-op programs with retailers as well as consumer-facing advertising
• Prepare sales materials including title information sheets, catalog copy, PowerPoint presentations
• Attend sales meetings and introduce seasonal titles
• Collect and analyze sales and inventory data
• Approve and find new sales accounts
• Collect market research for advertising and licensing purposes.
• Handle publicity, social media, and maintain good relationships with media contacts
• Maintain monthly newsletter and weekly website updates
• Business-to-business marketing – cross-promotions, events, and co-produced books
• Organize and attend consumer shows like San Diego Comic-Con, NY Comic-Con, AnimeExpo, and others
• Rights approvals with Japanese rights holders.
• Maintain and build relations with Japanese publishers
• Schedule and scout translators with editorial department
