◆Job requirements:
• At least three (3) years of experience in a school health environment
• Ability to work cooperatively with students, parents, the school’s senior management, and community agencies
• NYS license as RN or NP or transferrable license as RN or NP from other states
• CPR/First Aid/AED Certified
• Intermediate or advanced Japanese language skills are highly preferable
◆General Job Description:
• Develops protocols and standard procedures for the school
• Completes required state and local reports
• Coordinates health services with private and public health providers
• Provides advice to senior management by interpreting governmental laws related to the health of students
• Attends school and community meetings and committees as needed, assigned, or requested
• Supervises other school nurses and administrative staff including managing proper job allocations, daily work shift, on-call shift, time sheet approvals and evaluations
• Coordinates and organizes physical examinations, vaccine administrations, various tests and screenings and oversees registration process of all students
• Monitors and administers first aid, medications and medical treatments to students
• Communicates with parents, school doctor and relevant personnel regarding students’ health
• Promotes and assists in the control of communicable diseases through preventive immunization programs, early detection, surveillance and reporting of contagious diseases
• Handles the Health Center’s annual budget
• Manages the Health Center’s storage, ordering and inventory of supplies
• Oversees a clean and orderly school infirmary
• Performs other related duties as assigned
◆Compensation: $80-85K depending on experience
